Rob Thompson in the Maldives

Updated: Aug 19, 2019

Happy Monday everyone! What did you get up to at the weekend?

One of our own, Rob Thompson, the chair of Fathoms Free and director of Odyssey Innovation, has been paddling very hard in his recycled marine plastic kayak for the last 4 days supporting the amazing team behind the @standupforourseas campaign. The team made up of stand up paddler boarders and kayakers are visiting islands, talking to the local kids in schools, rescuing turtles and cleaning up the debris they find along the way.

Have we mentioned this is happening in the Maldives?

If you want to find out more about this amazing campaign led by a bunch of inspirational and totally awesome ladies, take a look at their Facebook page, it's full of photos of sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters - something we'd rather be looking at on a Monday afternoon! 😄🏝🚣‍♂️

We are a group of volunteer Marine Conservationists who refuse to stand by, whilst our seas turn into uninhabitable dumping grounds.

“The global marine debris problem is one of the greatest threats our planet has ever encountered. Divers are in a unique position to assist in tackling this threat. Industrial practices and legislation need to change, so our fight is a big one. We believe, by working together to raise awareness, that we are in a position to take on what appeared at first to be; the impossible”
