Shore based recovery - 6 pots and sadly a collection of dead marine life

Yesterday, Fathoms Free were made aware of some pots that had appeared on a remote beach in Cornwall. This morning, one of our volunteer divers, Jim, decided to go and ensure the pots wouldn't get taken back out to sea and release any marine life that was trapped.

Unfortunately, only one lobster and three crabs were still living and placed back into the sea. Everything else trapped in the pots, from crabs to catshark, was dead.

Sadly, this is another example of marine life wasted due to ALDFG (abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear) that we commonly call ghost gear.

Big thanks to Jim, for responding and ensuring these wildlife traps no longer pose a threat to marine life

I found the post about the shore-based rescue recovering six pots and sadly a lot of marine life at risk. It reminded me how high-stakes and detailed work can be, and that made me reflect on whether using a service like WGU exam prep service might be the smart move when facing major academic challenges and needing reliable backup.

That’s really disheartening to hear about the 6 pots and the loss of marine life. It reminds us how important sustainable practices are, both in marine industries and creative fields. At Custom Embroidery Canada, we focus on quality and eco-friendly methods, ensuring every design is made responsibly while supporting a future that values both craft and the environment.

A shore-based recovery effort revealed six pots along with a heartbreaking amount of dead marine life, highlighting the urgent need for better ocean care. While such topics demand attention, managing certification goals can also be tough some even look to pay someone to take my CBAP exam to stay on track.

Fathoms Free is a group of volunteer divers who protect marine wildlife and the environment for everyone's benefit by removing ALDFG (abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear) and other marine debris from the coastal waters of Cornwall and Devon.

ALDFG is also known as ghost gear or ghost fishing gear, as it continues to "fish," entangling, trapping, and killing wildlife indiscriminately. These trapped animals will die and act as bait, attracting more wildlife in a vicious cycle of death until the ghost gear is removed from the environment.
