    Penlee Point Plymouth

Great day, great teamwork! 😊 Today we went diving near Penlee Point, Plymouth. It was a bit rough to take the boat out any further but we made the most of the opportunity to go diving and also did some boat training. The divers retrieved a lost lobster pot and released a spider crab trapped inside and also a small lobster. They collected some mixed debris, including a weights belt. Hemmick Beach - St Austell

21/4/19 - We had planned a training dive today but unfortunately had a technical hitch with our boat, so not wanting to miss out on the opportunity of getting outdoors, enjoying the lovely Cornish weather and looking for some marine litter, we headed to Hemmick beach near St Austell and did a Paddle for Plastic with kayaks on loan from Odyssey Innovation Ltd. Rob and Nat headed west along the coastline and collected mostly fishing debris, including buoys, a broken lobster pot

    Mevagissey Clean Up 2019

30th March 19 - We had an excellent day at Mevagissey, despite having to change location last minute because of the poor diving conditions at Port Gaverne. As part of the Keep Britain Tidy - Great British Spring Clean we wanted to do our bit and had a successful dive outside and along the harbour wall. The divers were well looked after by Rob and Nat in Odyssey Innovation Ltd kayaks leading them safely from the harbour to the dive site and back. The kayakers were really usefu

    Falmouth Ghost Gear dive

20/21st July 19 - A Huge Thanks to Mark and ‘Stingray’ at #atlanticscuba for an excellent weekends diving in Falmouth Bay. 😀 Our divers were able cut through and release several pieces of lost fishing net (trawl and gill net) and rope, snagged on a local wreck. Lift bags sent it to the surface for the crew to retrieve. Amazing effort by the divers and a little less ghost gear and marine debris in our Cornish seas. Thanks to support from World Animal Protection UK #Morrisons

    Falmouth Clean Up with NARC

28/29th June 19 - What a cracking weekend spent diving with ‘Neptune’s Army of Rubbish Cleaners’ from Pembrokeshire. 😁 Diving from Falmouth at the Stanwood, Epsilon, Rick Island Bridge and again the Epsilon. Plenty of fishing related litter to clear. 3 dumpy bags full were retrieved but unfortunately having spent a long time in the sea, most of it is not suitable for recycling as it’s either contaminated or mixed with non recyclable materials but its out of the sea, thanks t

    Torbay Dive Clean up 2019

26th/27th May 19 - Thanks to everyone who was part of the Fathoms Free team at Torbay this weekend. We spent Sunday diving, firstly with a shore dive at Babbacombe, then a boat dive at Hopes Nose. This morning we dived at Berry Head, Brixham, in the company of a large grey seal, then later at the Breakwater. Thanks to Warwick from Nautilus Dive & RIB Charters Brixham for taking us out in his boat and looking after us. We retrieved angling gear at all locations with the most c

We are a group of volunteer Marine Conservationists who refuse to stand by, whilst our seas turn into uninhabitable dumping grounds.

“The global marine debris problem is one of the greatest threats our planet has ever encountered. Divers are in a unique position to assist in tackling this threat. Industrial practices and legislation need to change, so our fight is a big one. We believe, by working together to raise awareness, that we are in a position to take on what appeared at first to be; the impossible”
